Music and Technology have always been at the center of Kelly’s life.
“My grandmother had an old, out of tune piano, and the other kids my age were always banging on it, beating the poor thing up… but I was playing it, making chords and melodies.”
Her dad was a CAD engineer in the 1980s and 90s, and she had access to Digital Audio Workstations at a very young age. “I used to log into FTP servers, download samples ripped from other songs, and build my own music in DOS-based sequencers. I had recoded an entire album onto cassette tape by the time I was 16, all using these stolen 8-bit samples.”
Kelly’s Music
Kelly writes, performs, and records her own music. As a multi-instrumentalist, she plays a variety of instruments, including drums and percussion, piano, keyboards and guitars. She is also a trained vocalist, with experience in pop and choral music.
Kelly attended Otterbein University’s Music Program as a Percussion Major. During this time she marched with the Bluecoats and Capital Regiment Drumlines, and also performed in a variety of symphonic and musical theater environments.
She is also a skilled music producer, with decades of experience working in both analog and digital environments.
She started working in DOS-based 8-bit sequencers (Scream-Tracker, Impulse-Tracker). Over the years, she’s worked in a variety of DAW’s, ranging from ACID Pro and FL Studio to Ableton, ProTools, and Logic, along with analog tape and ADAT environments.
She currently writes and produces her own music as a solo artist.
Previously, she was primary keyboardist for the art-rock band “Phasmids”, where she doubled as producer and mixing engineer. She also had a solo EDM project in the early aughts under the moniker of “Apoq79”, where she released her own EDM tracks and remixes.
